A Boost for National League chances

Loughborough Students Rugby Football Club’s chances of climbing up National League 1 have just been given a massive boost. That’s thanks to the stunning new artificial playing surface and improved crowd hosting facilities SIS Pitches have just installed at their First XV pitch.

THE SAME PITCH NEWCASTLE PLAY ON

Designed and fitted by SIS Pitches, the new SISTurf Rugger 65 synthetic grass surface at Loughborough University is exactly the same as that installed by SIS Pitches at Kingston Park, the home of Newcastle Falcons. SIS Pitches also supplies sports surfaces to other high profile sports teams including Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The special yarn used on the top layer offers optimum pile recovery and resilience, with glass fibre reinforcement for durability, which will substantially increase playing time on the First XV pitch. At the same time, player comfort is a key factor, and special additives are used to give softness to prevent players suffering grazes. Ongoing maintenance will be carried out by SIS Pitches to ensure that the new surface stays in peak condition.

Benefitting the whole university

The new artificial surface should suit our style of rugby as the pitch is fast and very consistent in terms of foot placement and the way the ball reacts, regardless of the weather. In a wider context across campus, the pitch can now be used extensively, much to the benefit of players across the whole spectrum of rugby.

Dave Morris, Director of Rugby

We will have no hesitation in employing SIS Pitches on future projects and recommending them for similar tasks. I look forward to working with SIS Pitches again; it was a pleasure working with Jon and his team, who demonstrated a positive “can and will do approach” throughout. In conclusion, my thanks to the SIS Pitches team for their contribution to making this project the success that it is.

Ian Woodhouse, Project Manager

As the first university side ever to be admitted to the RFU National League, the new pitch should help set up Loughborough for a bright future.
