Official pitch suppliers of the FA
St George’s Park is the English Football Association’s national football centre at Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. This £105m facility is the home to England’s 24 national teams, and boasts 13 outdoor pitches, including a replica of the Wembley surface and a full-size indoor 3G pitch.
SIS Pitches are official pitch suppliers and we installed a SISGrass pitch at St George’s Park in June 2015 and another in 2016. After one year, the first pitch received its annual renovation and we were extremely pleased with the way in which the SISGrass fibres recovered and stood up to the renovation process.
No damage after a year
With the help of Premier Pitches, the pitch surface was Koro’d off leaving a clean surface with only the SISGrass fibres left standing. There was no damage caused to the SISGrass fibres and no displacement of fibres from the rootzone which was extremely pleasing. Around 40 tonnes of sand was applied as a top dressing prior to some aeration with a Vert-Drain and then finally over seeded.
As well as all of the England football teams, the SISGrass pitch has been used by a number of international rugby and football teams. These include Ireland and Argentina during the Rugby World Cup in 2015, and the Australian Rugby League team who trained there before the Four Nations series in November 2016.
Bettered the competition
With SISGRASS, SIS Pitches has not only matched the competition I believe they have bettered it. Its playability is excellent and, all in all SISGRASS is a massive step forward, one which will benefit many clubs and training grounds in the months and years ahead. Add in the SIS HydroBox pop-up irrigation system which we have installed on the pitches too and SIS Pitches have come up with a winning combination.
