SIS Pitches reveals 11 Fields for the UEFA European Under-21 Championships

Georgia and Romania will host the UEFA European Under-21 Championships in June. Georgia will provide 12 venues for the tournament.

THE BACKGROUND

The tournament is supported by a £31 million state-funded infrastructure program aimed at building or reconstructing 11 venues, including stadiums and training fields, in various locations such as Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and surrounding countryside areas. This investment is a significant step for the future of Georgian soccer.

THE BRIEF

SIS Pitches was contracted to complete work on 11 of the 12 fields. The project included constructing and maintaining fields using SIS Grass Hybrid technology, ensuring elite playability for the tournament. Additionally, SIS Pitches was tasked with ongoing maintenance, especially for the Batumi Stadium, which will host the final match.

WHAT WE DID

  • Field Construction: SIS Pitches managed the complete scope of work for 11 venues. All fields were stitched using SIS Grass Hybrid technology.
  • Maintenance: The in-house team maintained the fields before, during, and after the tournament.
  • Key Venues: Batumi Stadium was a notable project chosen for the final, as SIS Pitches had previously constructed and maintained this venue.
  • Challenges: Despite a tight schedule, the team delivered the project on time, showcasing a commitment to quality and completion.

THE OUTCOME
