Evolution of SIS Pitches

Founded

SIS Pitches was founded in Spalding, UK, in 2001. In 2005, SIS Ireland was established following the purchase of our manufacturing facility, which has been operating since 1966.

Expansion

SIS International was formed in 2010, the Middle East and Eastern Europe in 2011, Angola in 2015, SIS Grass in 2015, Georgia in 2022, Poland and Saudi Arabia in 2023, and India and the USA in 2025–a legacy of global expansion.

USA Expansion

Our USA footprint began in 2018 with hybrid grass stitching for the Green Bay Packers, and has since expanded across NFL, MLS, and MLB stadiums.

Innovation

SIS Air was first installed in 2015 at Luzhniki for the World Cup Final SIS Grass Hybrid was introduced to the market in 2015. In 2023 the first biodegradable hybrid grass, BioGrass was installed at AS Monaco.

B Corp Certified

After commencing registration in 2020, SIS Pitches achieved certification in 2022, becoming the first and only sports surface company to be a B Corp.

World Cup Success

In 2018, SIS Pitches constructed six of the twelve World Cup stadiums, including the final Luzhniki, with SIS Grass Hybrid on all fields. In 2022, SIS Pitches constructed 30 natural grass fields for the FIFA World Cup and 6 SIS Grass Hybrid stadium fields. In 2023, SIS Pitches stitched the Stade de France for the Rugby World Cup Final.

Youth Sport

For over 25 years, we've supported youth sports by helping clubs improve their playing surfaces. SIS Pitches have been part of many sporting provision programmes, where we've built high-performance soccer and rugby facilities nationwide as part of the Football Foundation and RFU framework.

Growing Headcount

SIS Pitches currently employs over 500 people worldwide, reflecting a 20% increase in headcount in 2024.

Success at tournaments

In 2023, 60% of the matches in the Asian AFC Cup in Qatar were played on SIS Grass Hybrid fields. Additionally, SIS Pitches constructed 11 fields for the U-21 Euros in Georgia and stitched three fields for the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
