In August 2025, SIS Pitches completed Poland’s first-ever stitched hybrid grass pitch installation for LKS Barycz Sułów, marking a major milestone for the country’s sports surfaces industry.
This project follows the recent opening of our Poland office, and marks the beginning of a strong period of growth, with multiple natural and hybrid grass projects in the pipeline over the next few months. This project is one of several establishing SIS Pitches as a full-service provider of natural, synthetic, and hybrid playing surfaces across the region.
LKS Barycz Sułów is a Polish football club based in the village of Sułów. The club competes in the regional leagues and plays a key role in promoting grassroots football in the area. With growing ambitions and a loyal following, LKS Barycz Sułów continues to invest in its infrastructure and facilities to support long-term development on and off the pitch. The most recent investment, a SIS Grass Hybrid pitch.
This latest upgrade was made possible with the backing of Tarczyński S.A, investors in the club and key supporters of the project. Their involvement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening football in the region and creating facilities that match the club’s growing ambitions.
LKS Barycz Sułów recently constructed a new training pitch behind their existing stadium pitch, upon completion of the pitch build, the club were looking to install a hybrid carpet system to reinforce the surface and ensure it is durable enough for their teams to train on. On researching hybrid grass systems, and speaking with our Poland sales manager, Rafal Abel, it became apparent that a stitched hybrid pitch suited the brief more, and the club could attain a longer-term solution to the typical lifespan of a carpet system.
Our team of SIS Grass Hybrid specialists arrived on site in early August, taking full advantage of ideal mid-summer conditions. Not too hot, and more importantly dry for our installers.
Despite it being peak season, when logistics and equipment scheduling can be challenging, our team successfully coordinated the transport and operation of our specialist hybrid stitching machinery, brought in directly from a prior installation at San Siro, Italy.
Usually, most of our hybrid installations are into grass, with a small percentage being stitched into a sand profile, then grown in. On this occasion, our team were stitching into a freshly constructed sand profile, which at first caused some problems due to constant downpours in the prior week’s meaning certain areas of the pitch were soft. However, this was soon no longer an issue after the first lane of stitching and ground conditions improved, ensuring a much more smooth and efficient installation than first starting out.
LKS Barycz Sułów selected a system using 2×2 cm stitch spacing at our maximum depth of 180 mm, delivering the most resilient, reinforced surface available. This stitching configuration is already trusted by elite stadiums and training facilities around the world and has a proven lifespan of up to 10 years when properly maintained.
Hybrid grass is a reinforced natural surface, designed to deliver the playability of natural grass with the added durability of synthetic fibres. It offers a reliable, high-performance solution for pitches that face heavy use throughout the season.
In countries like Poland, where cold and wet conditions are frequent, artificial surfaces has historically been seen as the reliable alternative to underperforming natural surfaces.
This installation marks a turning point in the landscape of sports pitch infrastructure in Poland. While many stadiums, clubs and facilities in the country currently rely on either natural or synthetic turf, hybrid grass offers the best of both worlds: the playing performance of natural grass combined with the durability and extended usage of synthetic systems. When maintained properly, hybrid surfaces can deliver up to three times more usage than traditional natural pitches.
Beyond performance, hybrid grass is also exceptionally well-suited to Poland’s seasonal climate, offering improved pitch stability during winter months when natural grass alone tends to deteriorate.
Despite its widespread use across the globe, and in challenging climates like Iceland, hybrid technology has yet to take hold in Poland, largely due to limited availability and local know-how. With this project, SIS Pitches becomes the first to install stitched hybrid grass in the country, creating a vital case study to showcase its performance and durability.
From our new Poland office, our local team led by Sales Manager Rafał Abel, SIS Pitches is ready to provide full-service support, including consultancy, design, construction, installation, and ongoing maintenance for not only hybrid surfaces, but also synthetic and natural grass across Poland.
“Delivering the first SIS Grass Hybrid installation in Poland is a huge milestone for us. LKS Barycz Sułów now has a surface that will perform at the highest level, and we’re confident it will demonstrate the value of hybrid technology to clubs and facilities across the country.”
Rafal Abel, Poland Sales Manager at SIS Pitches
“From our new Poland office, we’re perfectly positioned to meet the growing demand for hybrid, synthetic, and natural grass surfaces across the region. This project demonstrates our ability to deliver world-class pitches locally in Poland, supported by the expertise and resources of a global leader.”
