Hurling Pitches

Hurling is played on a pitch similar in size to that of Gaelic football, offering space required for one of the fastest field sports in the world. Hurling pitches require a durable surface that can withstand heavy use while providing traction for players, especially in adverse weather conditions.

SIS Pitches design, manufacture, construct and maintain various pitch systems for hurling: hybrid, natural grass and synthetic turf.

Benefits of Hybrid Grass in GAA

With their high-impact and intense play, GAA sports can quickly wear natural grass pitches, leaving them prone to surface damage and requiring repairs between matches.

Hybrid grass combines the best of both natural and synthetic turf, providing a durable, high-performance surface that reduces wear and tear. Typically, a hybrid pitch is 5% synthetic fibres and 95% natural grass.

By stitching synthetic fibres into natural grass, hybrid systems offer improved surface stability and resilience, making them the perfect solution for GAA pitches. Hybrid pitches can achieve up to three times more play than a natural grass pitch.

In September 2017, SIS Pitches embarked on a great project at O’Donnell Park, home of St Eunan’s GAA Club in Letterkenny, County Donegal.

In March 2017, SIS Pitches were proudly selected as the preferred contractor to supply and install a synthetic pitch at Naomh Barrog GAA Club.

Full-Size GAA synthetic Pitch & training areas installed at St Sylvesters GAA Club

SIS Pitches installed one full-size GAA pitch and 2 training areas with shockpad, which will be heavily utilised by the entire club. The training facility will also benefit their ever-growing academies, allowing them to train in all weathers.

Tullow RFC benefit from a new state of the art pitch
