SIS Pitches Announced as Pitch Delivery Partner for CSKA Sofia’s New Stadium

SIS Pitches is honoured to announce its appointment as pitch construction partner for CSKA Sofia’s new stadium at Bulgarian Army Stadium, a landmark project set to redefine football infrastructure in Bulgaria and the wider Balkan region.

Project Scope

The new playing surface will be delivered as a fully integrated SIS Pitches solution, incorporating:

• Full pitch construction – delivered by SIS Pitches specialist in-house teams
• SIS Air – subsurface aeration technology
• SIS Heat – undersoil heating to ensure year-round playability
• SIS Aqua – our advanced and irrigation system
• SIS Grass Hybrid – leading hybrid grass technology, used world’s leading leagues
• SIS Sense – a smart monitoring system with in-ground sensors measuring moisture, temperature and oxygen levels in real time
• Full pitch construction, delivered by SIS Pitches specialist in-house teams

The advanced aeration system will allow the pitch to perform even during prolonged heavy rainfall, while the integrated sensor network will give grounds teams control over pitch conditions, both automatically and manually.

The pitch is designed to meet UEFA elite performance standards, including the requirements for hosting European club competition finals. Similar technologies are currently in use at some of the most prestigious stadiums in world football, including elite venues in the Premier League and across Europe.

Construction of the pitch is scheduled to commence on 1 March 2026, with the surface planned to be match-ready by 1 July 2026.
