SIS Pitches UK was founded in Spalding, Lincolnshire, in 2001. In 2005, SIS Ireland was established following the purchase of our manufacturing facility, which has been operating since 1966.
SIS International was formed in 2010, Middle East & Eastern Europe in 2011, Angola in 2015, SIS Grass in 2015, Georgia in 2022, Poland and Saudi Arabia in 2023, and India and the USA in 2025–a legacy of global expansion.
Following a fire at our HQ in 2017, Glasson House re-opened in 2018. In 2019, SIS Pitches became the first UK business to manufacture sports grass using PU. Following a further £500,000 investment to the machinery in 2023, our facility becomes the UK's most advanced with over £2,500,000 invested since 2019.
SIS Air first installed in 2015 at Luzhniki for the World Cup Final. SIS Grass Hybrid was introduced to the market in 2015. In 2023 the first biodegradable hybrid grass, BioGrass was installed at AS Monaco.
After commencing registration in 2020, SIS Pitches achieved certification in 2022, becoming the first and only sports surface company to be B Corp.
In 2018, SIS Pitches constructed six of the twelve World Cup stadiums, including the final Luzhniki, with SIS Grass Hybrid on all pitches. In 2022, SIS Pitches constructed 30 natural pitches for the FIFA World Cup and 6 SIS Grass Hybrid stadium pitches. In 2023, SIS Pitches stitched the Stade de France for the Rugby World Cup Final.
For over 25 years, we've supported grassroots sports by helping clubs improve their playing surfaces. SIS Pitches have been part of many sporting provision programmes, where we've built high-performance football and rugby facilities nationwide as part of the Football Foundation and RFU framework.
SIS Pitches currently employs over 500 people worldwide, reflecting a 20% increase in headcount in 2024.
In 2023, 60% of the matches in the Asian AFC Cup in Qatar were played on SIS Grass Hybrid pitches. Additionally, SIS Pitches constructed 11 pitches for the U-21 Euros in Georgia and stitched three pitches for the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
