Job Title: Process Operative
Reporting to: Production Manager
Reporting Responsibilities: No reports
Location: Maryport, Cumbria
PURPOSE/ MAIN OBJECTIVES OF ROLE
To undertake key manufacturing processes for the production of artificial grass and sports surfaces. As a process operative, to operate the manufacturing machinery, to ensure production of quality products for SIS clients. It is intended that all operatives shall have the flexibility to cross-train and be able to operate all machinery but shall specialize in one manufacturing area as the business need arises.
To contribute to process improvements and efficiencies through process compliance, innovation and ensure that products are manufactured to the highest quality in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES/ TASKS
1) Tufting
To follow production and quality procedures and works instructions for the tufting process, ensuring raw materials, batches and works tools are all implemented correctly and safely.
To operate the tufting machines including threading, replacing needles, replacing knives, align knife blocks and looper replacement.
To conduct set-up checks and monitor the operation of tufting machines, including replacing yarn breaks.
To perform quality inspections during production runs and report any faults or issues to the QC personnel and Production Management in a timely manner; and mending voids in carpets as required. This shall include comparison of tufted carpet to standard requirements to maintain quality production.
To change backing as required.
2) Backing
To follow production and quality procedures and works instructions for the application of latex backing onto the tufted carpet product, ensuring that all equipment is working and set correctly and that the carpet is being managed at the required tensions and speeds.
To follow all quality works instructions, ensuring that all quality checks are undertaken and recorded, constantly guiding the carpet and monitoring the latex coating.
To monitor the equipment and report any faults immediately.
To report any qualify defects immediately, ensuring all quality checks are carried out.
To apply batch numbering, identification and works orders correctly.
To sew on substrate for continuous supply and ensure supply of secondary backing.

Health & Safety:
