SWEDEN NOW HAS HAD ITS FIRST TASTE OF SISGRASS’ HYBRID SYSTEM
The Gamla Ullevi Stadium, in Gothernburg, Sweden, has recently had installed the revolutionary hybrid pitch system, joining the ever increasing clubs that have chosen SISGrass. The stadium required a pitch which was resilient to high usage, because not only do local teams GAIS, IFK Göteburg and Örgryte IS use the facilities, it is also home to the Swedish women’s team who are ranked eighth in the world.
DESPITE BAD WEATHER PITCH COMPLETED IN JUST 8 DAYS
The weather during installation of the new SISGrass pitch was testing to say the least. However, the snow and freezing pitch conditions were overcome by utilising the ground pitch cover and undersoil heating system to create the conditions required to stitch the advanced reinforced turf system.
From start to finish the SIS Pitches team were outstanding. We faced some tough challenges that could have easily resulted in delays to the pitch installation but their knowledge of pitch care and construction and ability to solve problems meant that we delivered on time and went over and above the expectations of the client.

THE PLAYERS LOVE THE NEW SISGRASS PITCH
After the first premiere match at the Gamla Ullevi stadium, the Allsvenskan players had reason to celebrate after their win, and they had plenty of positive things to say about the new hybrid surface. There are a vast number of artificial turf pitches in Sweden, however it seemed for the players that this new hybrid pitch is a preferred playing surface and should have the opportunity to be installed elsewhere in the country.
It felt like a normal pitch but much better condition. I did not notice any difference in natural grass compared to this
AFC defender Alexander Michel
Mattias Bjarsmyr, IFK Gothenburg Capitan, added,
Hybrid grass has the potential to rival artificial turf..I think it was better than natural grass. Otherwise, it was very similar to natural grass. Now there are no excuses to have plastic.
