Summerhill College unveil largest synthetic pitch in West of Ireland

Summerhill College is an educational institution in Sligo, West of Ireland. It is known for its dedication to providing students with excellent academic and extracurricular opportunities.

THE BACKGROUND

On September 29th, Summerhill College celebrated the official opening of its new synthetic pitch. The event was attended by students, parents/guardians, local politicians, and representatives of sporting organisations. The pitch is the largest standalone synthetic pitch built in Ireland in 2023 and the largest in the West of Ireland.

THE BRIEF

The collegerequired a synthetic pitch that would meet the highest standards for GAA, rugby, and football while supporting the college’s goal of enhancing extracurricular programs and accommodating female students starting in 2025.

WHAT WE DID

Pitch Design and Construction: A dual-fibre surface was installed to ensure durability and performance.
Multisport Surface: The facility includes one full-size GAA pitch, two FIFA-quality certified pitches, and one World Rugby-certified pitch, all tested and certified to the latest standards.

THE OUTCOME

The pitch has provided Summerhill College with a multifunctional facility capable of supporting GAA, rugby, and football at the highest levels. It aligns with the school’s vision of expanding extracurricular programs and preparing for the enrolment of female students in 2025.
