SIS Pitches have recently completed the construction and installation of 3G pitches with shock pad at the National Indoor Arena, Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin
The National Indoor Arena (NIA) facility is the largest tensile sports structure in Europe and has recently had 16,554m2 of 60mm SISTurf synthetic turf surface and shock pad installed. This installation will be used extensively by the Ireland international rugby teams, Irish international soccer teams and elite GAA teams at the National Games Development Centre (NGDC).
This was a 2-year project, with works starting in September 2018 & completing in March 2019, with the facility being officially opened by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in June 2019.
Later this year, the IRFU will transfer their elite training programmes to the campus using this arena and the outdoor pitches currently under development. This will provide rugby training facilities better than anything to be found across Europe. I hope it will lead us to further success.
This will become a very busy venue in a short space of time and I hope that it will contribute to continued success for Irish sport in the coming years.

SIS Pitches’ synthetic turf surface was selected by the following governing bodies for the NIA: IRFU, Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). This was after a lengthy period of research and consultation by the key stakeholders, liaising with industry experts on surface quality, durability and performance.
The IRFU are relocating to the National Sports Campus and are the anchor tenant at the National Indoor Arena.
We’re delighted with the final result of this project and it has been a pleasure to work with Sport Ireland on building a new facility in which Irish sports teams can continue to develop and improve, With these sports surfaces being certified by World Rugby, FIFA and approved by the GAA, we are proud to say that the Rugby, GAA and football teams of Ireland will be training on high-quality surfaces.
