SIS Pitches hosted Field Tech: Live at Levi’s Stadium on 14 April, bringing together industry professionals for the latest instalment in our event series, with the next stop set for MetLife Stadium on 13 May.
The event featured contributions from leading voices across the industry, John Sorochan (University of Tennessee), Robert Heggie (BMO Field), Chris Franks (SCG Fields) and Kieran O’Donnell (Sports Labs USA), plus our own Alan Thomson. The panel session also brought together representatives from FIFA, alongside our expert speakers offering their perspective on elite field performance.
The event focused on advancing performance standards in sports surfaces, with a strong emphasis on innovation in hybrid grass technology and the role it will play in meeting the demands of upcoming global tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup.
Attendees engaged in a full-day programme combining technical insight with live, practical demonstrations. A key highlight was the live hybrid installation demo, offering a first-hand look at the machinery and processes used to deliver elite-level playing surfaces.
The panel discussion proved to be a standout moment, generating strong interaction between speakers and the audience. Conversations centred on what the World Cup is teaching the industry about field performance, alongside the growing importance of data-driven testing in maintaining surface quality across all levels of the game and different sports.
Throughout the day, there was a clear sense of collaboration, with professionals from across the sectors sharing knowledge, asking insightful questions, and contributing to a collective goal of improving field performance standards.
The event also marked the introduction to SIS Pitches for Andre Amaral, newly appointed Sales Manager for USA, South & Central America, as SIS Pitches continues to strengthen its presence across the region.
After a succesfull first event, we are now looking forward to the next event at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on the 13th of May. There are still a limited amount of spaces available to sign up.
